While travelling through the Annapurna circuit, ou will not just savor the beauty of the mountains but also love to meet the Gurung people and learn their culture. Although these Gurung people aren’t of Tibetan descent they have a very unique culture that are somewhat influenced by the Tibetan cultures. There are people in Mustang who still follow the ancient Bonpo Religion and are among the last people to follow the religion. Thini, Lupra and Nargon near Jomson and Kobang are the villages in the region where followers of Bonpo reside.

The Annapurna circuit trek generally starts at Besisahar continuing over to Nayapul and finally reaching its summit in Thorung La pass. The Thorung La Pass lies at the height of 5416m from sea level. The route then continues towards the pass and finally meets the Kali Gandaki River. After completing your trek, you can either catch a bus to Pokhara or extend your trek to Annapurna Base camp.  Annapurna circuit trekking falls under the category of a Tea House trek. You can stay and eat at lodges and restaurants in the local villages throughout your route. One is expected to eat breakfast and dinner both at the same lodge where he/she is spending the night. The lodges aren’t luxurious but are good enough for spending the night. The charges are also very reasonable.

The main season for Annapurna Circuit trekking is October to November and hundreds upon hundreds of trekkers flock to the place in this season. September and December are also good when the traffic is less dense and the weather is just as beautiful.
